It was pure magic at our ‘A Whole New World’ show in March 2021. After postponing the show from January amid Covid-19 concerns, we couldn’t wait to get the community back together for our first show of the year. As March is also the month of International Women's Day, we joined together with charity Educating Girls of Rural China to raise awareness and funds for the amazing work they do lifting young girls out of poverty in Western China. We managed to raise a whopping 7,000 RMB from raffle tickets sales. Two members of our audience were so moved by the work of EGRC, they donated a further 6,000 RMB each to support a girl in need for a year in her studies.
We had two exciting variations in our usual format this time with Derya joining us live from London for Unravel’s first ever zoom-ed story and having Yunxia, a volunteer and alumni of the EGRC programme sharing her story in Chinese with live translation into English. Stories connect us no matter the location and we look forward to featuring more storytellers from different cultures and locations soon!
